M. Baker John H. Cash,Jr., is the son of John H. & Esther Dunlap Cash, Sr. and they were some of the first members to come to Mt. Gilead Methodist Church. John H. Cash, Jr. ancestry began in Scotland, with William Cash in about 1653. John H. Cash, Jr. married Mary Catherine Eidson and they had twelve (12 children. They all consecrated themselves to a most faith faithful and efficient service of Old Mount Gilead Church. of the children born to John H. ash and his wife all lived to reach manhood and womanhood, and are members of Mt. Gilead and devout workers in many branches of church work. Of these children, two of the boys are Methodist Ministers, Willard Cash, a member of the North GA Conference, and Lawrence H. Cash a local minister. Another son, Wiley Albert Cash , is now the efficient superintendent of Mt. Gilead Sunday School and a faithful worker in all church activities. (year 1912) John H. Cash was not public man. He was well read in the Bible, and a school teacher. John was one of the original seventeen school teachers first hired by Fulton County Public School System, 12 August 1871.He was always in his place at church and Sunday School. He and Catherine have done something worth while to raise such a family as they have. John and Catherine, had musicians, school teachers, carpenters and ministers among their children. Today, 2003, Fannie Kate Cash, daughter of Wiley Albert Cash still attends Mt. Gilead Methodist Church at the age of 94yrs of age.
