Married in Yokohama 25 years ago, November 29, Dr. and Mrs. Clark have spent most of the time since in Japan as missionaries of the Baptist Foreign Mission Board. They are at home on furlough and are the guests in Atlanta of Mrs. Josephine Daniel, on Gordon Street, mother of Mrs. Clark. The reception was held at the home of Mrs. Daniel and assembled a large number of Atlantans who called to pay their respect and accord a welcome to these distinguished citizens. Receiving with Dr. and Mrs. Daniel and their children, Harvey, Clark, Jr., Josephine, Jeremiah, Coleman and Lucile, who were born in south Japan, where they resided for 21 years, and Walter, the youngest, who is an Atlantan by birth. Miss Josephine Clark is attending Bessie Tift school and Harvey Clark is a student at Mercer University. For the last four years Mr. and Mrs. Clark have made their home in Tokio (Toyko), where the other children have attended school, but up to that time they were tutored by their mother, who was widely known in Atlanta as Miss Lucile Daniel before her marriage. Throughout the reception apartments varicolored chrysanthemums, ferns, begonias and other potted plants were artistically arranged. In the dining room yellow flowers were used on the mantles, buffet and table. Dr. W.W. Seay, of the West End Baptist Church, and Dr. Charles W. Daniel of the First Baptist Church, officiated at the ceremony which was a feature of the afternoon. Assisting in receiving were Mrs. Walter Daniel, Mrs. Winston Allen, Mrs. Ernest Allen, Mrs. Jesse Manry and Mrs. E.G. Heath. Presiding at the punch bowl were Misses Josephine Daniel, Miriam Seay and Elizabeth Body; Misses Nellie Sheffield, Frances Russell, Laura Cooper, Alice Cooper, Belle Cooper and Laura Jenkins assisted in entertaining. Mrs. Clark was gowned in cream Chantilly lace veiling orchid satin, and she carried a bouquet of bride’s roses. Mrs. Daniel, her mother, wore a gown of black satin and she wore a corsage of parma violets.
