Powers entertained at an elaborate tea Friday at her home on Peachtree Circle in honor of her daughter, Mrs. Franklin Davis, who celebrated her second wedding anniversary, and for Mrs. E.R. Amerine, who has recently moved to Atlanta from Macon. Assisting in entertainment of the guests were Mrs. E.L. Connally, Mrs. Bun Wylie, Mrs. T.J. Hightower, Mrs. Wallace Kilpatrick, Mrs. J. O’Keefe Nelson, Mrs. B.I. Simpson, Miss Maude O’Keefe Powers, Miss Frances Powell, Miss Elizabeth Shewmake, Miss Mary Barnett. Serving punch were Miss Maude Powers and Miss Zaidee Amerine. The tea table was covered with an exquisite lace cloth. The centerpiece, a silver vase, was filled with baby French Pernet roses in the golden shades, with pink and yellow snapdragons. Silver candlesticks, with butterfly favors of yellow and pink tulle held tall unshaded yellow candles. The bonbons and mints were in silver comports. Mrs. Powers wore a black lace and georgette crepe gown, beaded in blue and steel beads. Mrs. Davis’ gown was of white chiffon velvet, beaded in rhinestone. Strands of pearls and a shoulder spray of orchid and valley lilies completed her gown. Mrs. Amerine wore a gown of black Chantilly lace and crepe Romaine, over cream georgette, and it was trimmed in French pastel shaded flowers. One hundred guests called during the afternoon. Later in the evening, the husbands of the ladies in the receiving line joined them at a supper party, there being twelve seated guests, members of the wedding party of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Davis, whose second anniversary was being celebrated.
