Shearer, an Atlanta business man, has deserted his wife and children and fled to India with his "soul mate," Mrs. F. C. Cauble, a widow. Shearer had declared that the woman had been his "psychic mate of centuries ago" and had become reincarnated in the twentieth century. Having received a note from her husband to the effect that "he loved the other lady best," and that she would never see him again, Mrs. Shearer has filed suit for divorce. She is a beautiful Philadelphia woman, socially prominent. The marriage of the Shearers took place in Philadelphia twenty-five years ago. Mrs. Shearer says her husband's flight is the result of his dabbling for five years in psychology, the occult philosophies of the East and sex problems in their relations to mysticism.
