The Atlanta Constitution August 19, 1919
An al fresco social and community sing will be given by the women of St. John 
Methodist church on the evening of Friday, August 22.  The vacant lot at the 
corner of South Pryor and Bass streets will be the place of entertainment, and 
a large company from the entire south side is expected to participate in this 
rather old-fashioned form of pleasure.  War songs, love lyrics and familiar 
church hymns, led by Mr. O. A. Spruill, will brighten the occasion, with 
perhaps one or two three-minute speakers. 

Frozen cream and home-baked cake will be served, all proceeds going to the 
benefit of the church debt.
