The Rev. Paul Wohlgemuth will officiate. Avery died Friday. He formerly owned and operated the Atlanta Car Wash. Surviving are son, Richard Avery of Decatur; sisters, Mrs. Louise Brownlee of Decatur, Mrs. Gertrude A. Keys of Atlanta; a brother, Jesse B. Avery of Decatur; two grandchildren. (NOTE: According to verbal history, the Atlanta Car Wash was the first automated car wash in the city of Atlanta. It is reported that he made a great deal of money with this business. This is not confirmed, but interesting!) This was in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, Sunday, August 18, 1974 Avery – Mr. Marvin Lester of 11708 Jamestown Rd, Decatur, Ga., died Aug. 16, 1974. Surviving are his son, Mr. C. Richard Avery, sisters, Mrs. Louise Avery Brownlee, Decatur; Mrs. Gertrude Avery Keys, Atlanta; brother Mr. jesse B. Avery, Decatur; grandchildren, Bradley Avery, Traci Avery, several nieces and nephews. Interment services will be held Monday, Aug 10, at 2 o’clock at Westview. Rev. Paul Wohlgemuth officiating. Those who wish may make contributions to The Heart Fund. H. M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill. Additional Comments: Marvin Lester Avery was my grandmother’s (Louise Avery Hinson Brownlee) brother. They were very close. My grandfather, John Beuna Hinson is buried with his mother and father in Villa Rica, GA. My grandmother, Louise, rests next to her brother, Lester, and Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, GA. I don’t remember ever meeting him, but I’m sure I did somewhere along the line.
