The friends and acquaintances of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bailey are respectfully invited to attend the funeral of their eldest daughter Lillian, from their residence on McDonough street, this afternoon, at three o'clock. 8 November 1870 IN MEMORIAM. LILLIAN BAILEY. Death, the cruel reaper, is ever passing through our midst, cutting down, with his relentless scythe the ripe grain and the tender flowers. Yesterday, he gathered a fair young bud, unfolding with rare promise of loveliness, in the bright morning hours of life. With sincere regret and affectionate sympathy do we unite with the bereaved parents and friends of our beloved school-mate, Lillian Bailey, in mourning the sad dispensation of Providence, that has taken her so suddenly from our midst. But we are comforted by the thought that she has been transplanted to the Paradise of God, and will there bloom with more than earthly beauty. Her quiet, gentle ways, and her amiable, affectionate disposition endeared her to all, and give us a sweet memory of her brief life. Be it,therefore, Resolved, 1st, That the teachers and pupils of the McDonough Street Female School tender their heartfelt condolence to the parents of our little friend. 2d. That while we deeply deplore our loss, we bow with submission to the will of our heavenly Father. 3d. That as a token of our regard, we will attend the funeral, and wear the usual badge of mourning. 4th. That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family, and to the city papers for publication.
