At the time of her passing, Mrs. Cooper was resting peacefully at her daughter's home where she had been recovering from a recent hospital stay. Mrs. Cooper was born June 15, 1924 in Atlanta to parents Edna Jenkins Mabry and William Lee Mabry. Mrs. Cooper has resided most of her life in Cobb County, Georgia. She did accounting work and retired from Conveyers & Drive in the fall of 1989. Mrs. Cooper was a devout Christian with great love for her Lord and Savior. She was always very active in her church. In her younger life she was a member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church where many of her children were baptized and later she was a charter member of Eastside Baptist Church. In her more senior years she has attended Marietta Alliance Church where she enjoyed the fellowship and love of her church family and pastor. Mrs. Cooper had a great passion for cooking and received much joy in seeing her family, friends, and neighbors well-fed and enjoying her delicious meals. Her meals ministry was dubbed "Laura's meals on wheels: and she brought much comfort to many in their times of need. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Cooper, Sr. in 1994; and also by her brother, Doyle Mabry; sister Sylvia Pirkle; and daughter- in-law Dot Cooper. She is survived by her five sisters; three brothers; six children; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Daughters are Betty and Jeff Hatle; Regenia Gaskin; Melba and Bob Whitesides; Sons are Edward B. (Benny) Cooper, Jr.; James Cooper, Emory and Dale Cooper. Grandchildren are Kaye Cooper; Stacy and Andrea Grizzard; Shelle Hatle; Jason Gaskin; Brandon and Monica Cooper; Wyman Whitesides; Blake Cooper; Laura Whitesides; Bethany Cooper. Great-grandchildren Britni Grizzard; Tia Grizzard; Chase Grizzard. Great-great grandchildren Reece and Grace. Mrs. Cooper's surviving sisters are Marie and James Barnes; Geraldine and L.B. Clark; Flo and Joe Ingram; Mary and Jack Bennett; Martha and Joe Brown. Brothers are Herb and Colleen Mabry; W.L. (Pug) Mabry; Don and Patsy Mabry. Sister-in-law Viola Mabry. The family will receive visitors Sunday, November 14, 2004 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, 12050 Crabapple Rd. Roswell, GA 30075 770-645-1414. Funeral services will be held at Marietta Alliance Church 1787 East Piedmont Road, Marietta at 1:00 PM Monday, November 15, 2004 and will be officiated by Pastor David Hayes.
