Davis, private, of Company B, Twenty-second infantry, Fort McPherson, died Wednesday morning at the Fort hospital as the result of injuries received Sunday, when he was struck down by a trolley car near the reservation. Private Davis, who was 27 years old, was a veteran of the world war and saw service in the battles of the Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne. He was wounded in the fighting on the Argonne front. For the past two years he had been stationed at Fort McPherson. The soldier was a native Georgian, born at Flowery Branch and for many years resided in Gainesville. He is survived by a brother, Samuel Davis, of Norcross, where the body will be taken for interment. Details of the funeral arrangements will be announced later.
