W. J. (sic) Davis Died Yesterday 
Prominent Local Lawyer and Citizen of East Point Succumbs to Paralysis

W. J. (sic) Davis, a prominent citizen of East Point and well-known lawyer 
of this city, died early yesterday morning at his residence in the former 
place. 
Mr. Davis was 42 years of age. He was twice elected mayor of East Point, 
each time serving with honor to himself and the city.
While he had his home in East Point, Mr. Davis had been practicing law in 
this city for the last ten years. During that time he made many friends and 
admirers who will regret to learn of his sad and untimely death.  He was a 
devout Christian.  
The demise was almost as unexpected as it was sad.  Saturday morning he had 
a stroke of paralysis on his right side and in the afternoon another stroke 
which paralyzed his left side.  After the second stroke but little hope was 
held out for his recovery and it was realized that his life hung on a 
slender thread. At 2:30 o'clock yesterday morning he surrendered to the 
inevitable. 
The surviving members of the family are one 12-year-old son, William Davis; 
one brother, E. P. Davis, and three sisters, Mrs. W. J. Shannon, Mrs. C. R. 
Henry and Mrs. W. A. Shannon. Funeral services will be conducted from the 
residence in East Point at 10 o'clock this morning, Rev. O. C. Simmons 
officiating. The interment will be at College Park.
