FARROW. His Grandsons Will Act as Pallbearers This Afternoon. Funeral ceremonies of the late Colonel Henry Pattillo Farrow will be conducted this afternoon, at 3 o'clock, at the residence of his son-in-law, John A. Whitner, 123 South Pryor street. Interment will be in Oakland cemetery. The grandsons will act as pallbearers. The deceased was one of the most prominent men in this state, especially during the days of reconstruction. He was 72 years of age at the time of his death, and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John A. Whitner, and Mrs. John Cooper, both of this city. Colonel Farrow was born in South Carolina, and was educated in the University of Virginia, and commenced his career as a lawyer at Laurens county courthouse, S. C. He moved to Cartersville, Ga., in 1850. He was a delegate to the democratic presidential convention held in 1860. He was opposed to secession, but when this step was taken by the south he united with the confederates, and was made superintendent of the nitre and mining bureau of Georgia. after the war he joined the reconstructionists, and was attorney general under the administration of Governor Bullock. During his life he held the following positions: United States district attorney for eight years; collector of port at Brunswick, and postmaster at Gainesville. He retired from active life some time ago. 13 Feb. 1907 FUNERAL OF COL. FARROW. Services Were Conducted Yesterday Afternoon at the Residence of John A. Whitner. The funeral of Colonel Henry Pattillo Farrow, who died Sunday afternoon, were conducted yesterday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, from the residence of John A. Whitner, 123 South Pryor street, the four grandsons of Colonel Farrow bearing his pall to Oakland cemetery, where he was laid to rest. Colonel Farrow lived a life crowded with stirring incidents, through which he bore himself bravely, commanding the respect and esteem of his friends and acquaintances, the great majority of whom differed with him on political questions. As an anti-secessionist, Colonel Farrow opposed the civil war, bit when he saw that the conflict was on, he cast his fortunes with his people, becoming superintendent of the confederate nitre and mining bureau of Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama. Under the Bullock administration, at the close of the war, and during the reconstuction period, he was attorney general of the state, resigning to accept the position of United States attorney, for the districts of Georgia, afterwards becoming the collector of port at Brunswick, and then postmaster at Gainesville. He was 73 years old, and is survived by his two daughters, Mrs. John A. Whitner and Mrs. John Cooper. COlonel Farrow is also survied by a sister, Mrs. Julia F. McGowan, of Washington, D. C.
