Fortson, 55, of 93 Adair Ave., SW, will be held at 2 pm Wed. at Spring Hill. The Rev. T. H. Shackleford will officiate. Burial will be in West View cemetery. Mr. Fortson died Monday at a private hospital. He was an employee of the Railway Express Co. for over 30 years and at the time of his death was a rate clerk.Born in Elbert Co., he had lived in Atlanta since 1914. His church membership was at the Dewy Rose Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War I. Survivors are his wife, a daughter Mrs. Leo Adamczyk of Atlanta; four sisters, Mrs. Clarence Vickery of Atlanta; Mrs. L. D. Hewell of Elberton; Mrs. Leon Eavenson of Conley; Miss Sallie Lou Fortson of New York City; and three brothers, T. J., W. A. and G. H. Fortson, all of Atlanta. Additional Comments: Fred Hall Fortson (1893-1948) was the son of Asa Chandler Fortson (1847-1906) and Louisa Catherine Hall (1855-1927). He married in 1922 to Mary Bond (1901- 1991) of Elbert Co., daughter of Mark Reeves Bond (1866-1920) and Alice A. Mize (1872-1942). He served for two years in World War I in France and Germany as an ammunition carrier. His daughter Bettie Fortson was the wife of Major Leo J. Adamczyk, U. S. Army.
