M. Francis buried on Wednesday. The funeral of Captain W. M. Francis, one of the best known conductors in the South, who died on his run from Charlotte to Atlanta Tuesday morning at 2:30 o'clock, was held from H. M. Patterson's chapel Wednesday mornign at 10 o'clock, Rev. S. B. Ledbetter officiating. The interment was in Wesley Chapel. Members of the O. R. C., division No. 437, acted as pallbearers. They were J. B. Dunlap, B. M. Burgess, S. C. Stovall, E. P. Rosborough, Jackson Cannon and R. F. Cox. Captain Francis was 54 years old had been in the employ of the Southern since his youth. He was conductor on the Southern's finest trains, Nos. 37 and 38. He is survived by his wife, five sons and two daughters.
