L. F. Garrard, speaker of the house of representatives, peacefully passed away at the residence of Mr. H. Castleman, in this city. He was just thirteen years old, and was a youth of the loveliest character. The blossom of what promised to grow into a beautiful life was blighted in his death. His disease was complicated but finally took the form of inflammation of the bowels. A surgical operation was tried as a last hope but failed and the bright youth died on the threshold of young manhood. His remains were taken to Columbus last night where they will be interred to day. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Garrard, Mr. W. U. Garrard of Savannah, Hon. W. A. Little of Columbus and Col. J. T. Glenn of this city. THE CONSTITUTION extends its sincerest sympathies to the afflicted parents in this severe trial.
