Atlanta Journal December 21, 1918
Young Hardman is electrocuted while fighting fire in Home.
While trying to extinguish flames that had caught a corner of his home at 74 
Richardson St. where the insulation of a telephone wire had worn off. 
Alvin Hardman, 18 years old, an employee of the Government in the reclamation 
division of the Ford Plant was electrocuted shortly after seven o'clock 
Saturday morning. 
According to his father, John T. Hardman, the young man rushed to extinguish 
the fire with a hand full of wet grass which he seized in the yard. He died 
his father said immediately after coming in contact with the wire. Mr. Hardman 
said that several passersby witnessed the accident. Young Hardman is survived 
by his father, one brother, Glenn; Four sisters; Misses May, Grace, Ruby and 
Evelyn. His mother died last March.

Hardman   Friends of Mr. James Alvin Hardman, Mr. John T. Hardman, Mr. John 
Glenn Hardman, Misses May, Grace, Evelyn and Ruby Hardman are invited to 
attend the funeral of Mr. James Alvin Hardman this Sunday afternoon at 12:45 
o'clock from the residence, 74 Richardson Street. The following gentlemen will 
please serve as pallbearers and meet at the residence at 12:30 o'clock: 
Lieutenant Myers, Mr. Edwin Akin, Mr. Hal Morris, Mr. Tom Whatley, Mr. John 
Bell and Mr. J F Edens, Jr. Rev. W W Majors will officiate. Interment Stone 
Mountain Cemetery, Barcley and Brandon in charge.
