Lamar, a Confederate veteran, an inmate of the Soldier’s Home, died at Grady Hospital as the result of a blow from a poker, wielded by H.M. Cromer, also a Confederate veteran and an inmate of the home. The killing of Lamar is said to have grown out of a quarrel between the two old comrades as to the possession of the poker with which Cromer is said to have struck Lamar.
