Lanier, son of Mrs. W. C. Lanier, and a former resident of Atlanta, died Friday night [April 4] in the Roosevelt hospital in New York [Manhattan, New York Co.], after an illness with pneumonia and erysipelas. The body was brought to this city last night at 6 o'clock and was carried to the undertaking parlors of H. M. Patterson. The funeral will be conducted this morning at 10 o'clock at the First Christian church. The interment will be in Westview cemetery. The following gentlemen will act as pallbearers: William Bean, Thomas Lanier, Shepard Bryan, J. Priestly Orme, Paul Leak and William McKennie. The deceased is survived by his mother and three brothers, all of Atlanta. Mr. Lanier had been engaged in the business of cotton broker in New York for several years. He has many friends in Atlanta. He is a Mason and Knight of Pythian. Additional Comments: Son of Ward Crockett "Pomp" Lanier and Dora Chisholm. Born Sept 1872 in Georgia per 1900 Census of Manhattan, New York.
