He Was the Manager of the Carrie Steele Orphanage for Negroes. Joseph Logan, a negro 47 years old, who has for a number of years been acting manager for the Carrie Steele orphanage for negro children, died yesterday at the home from pneumonia after an illness of nine days. The orphanage was founded by his wife in 1890 and financed by him. It is situated near the Soldiers' home and has always been considered one of Atlanta's most notable charities. Joseph Logan enjoyed a good reputation both among the white people and the negroes of the city who appreciated the work that he had been doing for many years. The home now has twenty-nine inmates. The funeral services will be conducted from the Wheat Street Baptist church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock.
