Mell McAfee Dead James Melville McAfee, of Atlanta, brother of J. M. & H. A. McAfee and Mrs. L. P. Lockhart, of this place, died suddenly--after only three days' illnes (sic), of pneumonia-in Cleveland, White county, on Friday last. His remains were carried to Cumming and interred there on last Sunday. He was a son of Hon. E. C. McAfee, of Cumming, and well known to every merchant and many others in North Georgia. He had many relatives and friends in this county, who were saddened to hear of his sudden death away from home. He was at Cleveland in the interest of John Silvey & Co., of Atlanta, for whom he had worked for many years, and enjoyed their respect, confidence and highest esteem as evinced by the following letter of condolence sent by that firm to his parents: Mr. and Mrs. E. C McAfee, Cumming, Ga.;--We tender you and family our deepest sympathy in your great bereavement. We can scarcely express our sorrow at the sad thought that our beloved and trusted Mellville will not again take our hands in his hearty and well known whole-souled grasp. We offer the only consolation in our power. He that doeth all things well knows what is best for our good. Our loss is Mell's eternal gain. His place in our hearts can never be filled. He was with us eight years within a few days, and we wish to say that, in all our intercourse he has proven himself an accurate man, never failing to respond to every duty. Prompt, efficient and trustworthy in every respect, careful in the smallest affairs, his character was such as to attract all who came in contact with him. We feel sure that his reward is great for the untiring good accomplished on earth. Yours in sorrow, John Silvey & Co. He leaves a wife and three children who live in Atlanta.
