Dr. J W Mitchell, widely known as the physician for the Atlanta baseball team, died last night at his residence, 187 Oakland avenue, after an illness of several months. Dr. Mitchell had practiced here since coming to the city twenty years ago from Columbus, Ga., where he had been born and reared. He was an attendant at every game until his health broke during the summer. Dr. Mitchell was 54 years old. Besides his widow, he is survived by two brothers, Dr. C. Ray Mitchell, Pensacola, Fla. and Dr. E. S. Mitchell, Homer, La.; three sisters, Mrs. C. Thiesen and Mrs. H T Matthews, both of Pensacola and Mrs. W A Hill, Georgetown, Ga.
