Pioneer Atlanta Woman Dead

Atlanta – Mrs. Julia Carlisle Withers, pioneer Atlantan, who was the first baby
to be born in Atlanta when it was just a settlement and called Terminus died
here.  Mrs. Withers was born in August of 1842, when Atlanta represented nothing
more metropolitan than a beautiful expanse of meadowland. On the spot where the
Equitable building now stands was the spring that furnished water for Mrs.
Withers’ home which stood nearby.
