N. Witcher and Myra Witcher C. N. Witcher and his daughter, Miss Myra Witcher died Monday night. C. N. Witcher and his daughter, Miss Myra Witcher died here Monday night at the family home after a very short illness. Miss Myra, 47 years of age, was one of the most popular young ladies of Lampasas and had a host of friends among both the young and older people, who were made sad by her death. She was taken suddenly ill Sunday night and died Monday night about 3 o'clock. C. N. Witcher, 74 years of age, was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Lampasas in 1868 and made his home here practically all the time since that date. He was in the cattle business here in the early days and later in the mercantile and real estate business and conducted the picture show and opera house here. Mr. Witcher had suffered with rheumatism for some time but was in his usual health until Friday night when he was taken sick. He was in town early Saturday morning attending to business but went home and gradually grew worse until 9:45 Monday night when death came. Mr. Witcher never aspired to public office in either the city or county but was a very prominent worker for the interests of Lampsas at all times. He was an old Confederate soldier, one of the directors of the Confederate Home, chairman of the Democratic executive committee of Lampasas at several different times, and chairman for the draft army at the time of his death. There was never a kinder neighbor, more generous man toward the poor and needy in times of distress or a kinder or indulgent father and husband than Mr. Witcher. His loss will be keenly felt by the entire town. The deceased is survived by his widow and three children, Mrs. N. P. Pyron of Talpa, J. D. Witcher and Mrs. Geo. H. Zivley of Lampasas, all of whom were here at the time of his death. Funeral Services were held at the family home Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 and both bodies were interred at Oakhill Cemetery. The out of town relatives here to attend the funeral were H. C. Rasbury of Temple, Mrs. Walter Jones of Temple, Mrs N. P. Pyron and two children of Talpa, Ed Rasbury of Ballinger, Mrs. W. M. Whitfield of San Angelo and V. N. Zivley of Austin.
