Mrs. Rosiana H. Zahn, a retired Atlanta insurance executive, died of heart 
failure at the age of 89 on September 11. Born in Atlanta at the family 
residence on the northwest corner of Courtland and Baker Street in 1897, she 
was the former Rosiana Marie Hunerkopf. Her father was Louis Hunerkopf one of 
Atlanta's foremost builders in the early 1900's, and her grandmother, Rosina 
Huerkopf, was one of Atlanta's early German pioneers, for whom Hunerkobf 
Street in Home Park, the site of one of her farms, was named. Mrs. Zahn was an 
accomplished pianist, very active in Atlanta's classical musical circles in 
the 1920's and '30's. For many years she was a member of and officer in the 
Atlanta Insurance Women's Club. She was a lifelong member of St. John's 
Lutheran Church, where she sang in the chancel choir for more than sixty 
years. She was the mother of Dr. Louis J. Zahn, Professor of Modern Languages 
and Director of Language Institute at Georgia Tech by whom she is survived. 
Mrs. Zahn was well informed about the history of German settlers in Atlanta, 
and it was she who provided much of the historical data contained in Dr. 
Zahn's “History of Saint John's Lutheran Church, 1869-1969”. The funeral 
service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church on Monday, September 14, 
1987, at 11:00 A.M. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Scott, Pastor. Dr. James 
Faller will provide special music. Burial will be in the family plot in 
Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 
o'clock at Spring Hill, H. M. Patterson & Son.
