August 24, 1922 Davis-Adams Rev. George W. Davis, pastor of the East Side Methodist church, of Cartersville, and Miss Annie Mae Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Adams, of Confederate Avenue, Grant Park, Atlanta, were quietly married on Wednesday afternoon, August 16, at 3 o'clock, in Atlanta. Rev. John F. Yarbrough, presiding elder of the Dalton district, assisted by Rev. L. M. Twiggs, pastor of the Sam Jones Memorial Methodist church, of Cartersville, performed the ceremony which was witnessed by only the immediate families and a few close friends. Immediately after the ceremony, Rev. and Mrs. Davis motored to Cartersville and upon arriving at the Conway residence, 25 Douglas Street, where they will be at home to their friends were met by a number of friends who had gathered to extend them a welcome, and to wish them much happiness in their married life. A group of little girls, who compose the Willing Workers Band of the East Side Methodist church, under the direction of Misses Sadie Williams and Leata Ray, were among the first to greet the bride and groom and their pathway from the gate to the porch was strewn with beautiful flowers, with expressions of "may your pathway always be as beautiful as these flowers." Reaching the house, the happy young couple found their friends waiting and a delightful wedding supper prepared in their honor. Ladies of Mr. Davis' church, as well as friends throughout the city, had cooperated in carrying out a pantry shower, which included more than sixty cans of all kinds of good things to eat and a linen shower had brought in many other beautiful tokens of love and good wishes. The marriage of Mr. Davis and his bride resulted from a romance begun several years ago, while they were students at Waleska, and is a happy consummation of their friendship begun there. The bride is a beautiful young woman, possessed of much charm and grace, and her coming to Cartersville is a source of much pleasure to those who have already met her. As pastor of the East Side Methodist church, Mr. Davis has made scores and scores of warm friends, and his ministry has been very successful from the start. He is also pastor at the Atco charge, and his services are in demand throughout this section on many occasions. Mr. and Mrs. Davis have requested The Tribune News to thank all who contributed so generously, and made their home-coming such a happy event. They are receiving heartiest congratulations from the entire community and The Tribune News joins with all their friends in wishing them a long and very happy wedding life.
