Mathews An event of social interest to a wide circle of friends was the marriage of Miss Beatrice Turner to Joseph H. Mathews, taking place at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Callie D. Turner, Friday evening, November 21 at7:30 o’clock. Rev. H.T. Brookshire officiated. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Hugh Cates sang, “At Dawning,” accompanied by Mrs. Emmitt Moore at the piano. The groom entered with his brother, Charles L. Mathews, best man. Then came the bride with her sister, Miss Dean Turner, who was maid of honor. The bride was lovely in a costume of blue satin back crepe trimmed in narrow bands of grey fur. Miss Dean Turner wore a beautiful model of rust crepe with fur trimmings. Following the ceremony, a reception was held, entertaining the families and a few close friends. Miss France Turner, sister of the bride, presided at the punch bowl, and Miss Ruth Smith kept the bride’s book. Mr. and Mrs. Mathews left for a short wedding trip and on their return will be at home with the bride’s mother.
