Hamilton Georgia Baldwin County To William Godfrey No 33 - 8 - 2 This Indenture made this the tenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hun-dred and forty two Between B.B. Hamilton of the county of Pulaski & State aforesaid of the one part & William Godfrey of the County of Gilmer and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Benjamin B. Hamilton for & in consideration of the sum of Twenty five Dollars in hand paid at and before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold & conveyed & by these presents do grant bargain sell & convey unto the said Wm Godfrey his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the eighth district of the second section known & distinguished in the plan of said district by lot number thirty three (No 33 – 8 – 2 Cherokee in time of survey State aforesaid) containing one hundred & sixty acres of land more or less to have & to hold said tract or parcel of land unto him the said Wm Godfrey his heirs & assigns together with all and singular the rights members reversions rents profits and appurtenances thereof to the same in any manner belonging to his & their own proper use benefit & behoof forever ~ And the said Benjamin B. Hamilton for himself his heirs Executors and administrators the said Bargained lot of land unto the said Wm Godfrey his heirs Executors and assigns will warrant & forever defend the right & title thereof as in him against himself his heirs and assigns forever ~ In witness whereof the said Benjamin B Hamilton Hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & date above written signed sealed & delivered in presence of Barnett Newton B.B. It is impossible to tell if there is punctuation in the body of the deed due to the poor quality of the copy. I only have a photocopy found in my files from my early days of research (i.e. I didn't record proper source information). Based on the Clerk who registered it this appears to be the copy from Gilmer Co. deed books, p. 244. This is not from Baldwin Co. deed books.
