John E. Ellis Atlanta, Georgia Sir: I have to advise you that from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim W.4431 it appears that Walter Ellis served three months in Captain William Harding's North Carolina Company, General Lillington's Brigade and was discharged March 22, 1780. He served a tour, length not stated, under Lieutenant Colonel Thomas (illegible) in General Butler's Brigade and was discharged November 16, 1781. Soldier married May 8, 1776, Mary ---. He died November 13, 1821 in Jackson County, Georgia and she was allowed pension on her application executed March 13, 1840 while a resident of Gilmer County, Georgia, aged eighty-four years. Their children: Elizabeth born October 3, 1778 Ann born March 8, 1781 Stephen born August 27, 1783 Mary born February 13, 1786 James who left a son William One Elijah Ellis, relationship not stated, was a resident of Gilmer County, Georgia in 1840.
