Captain R. L. Smith, Ellijay. Ellijay, Ga., June 6- Captain Robert Lee Smith died here yesterday afternoon at 6 o'clock at the residence of his son, Hon. Robert E. Smith, ex-representative of Gilmer county. Captain Smith commanded a company in Ralston's battalion, Wofford's brigade, in the confederate army. At the time of his death he was postmaster at Roy, Gilmer county, and a leading merchant. He was 73 years old. His wife died fifteen years ago. He is survived by three sons, Lester Smith, of Oregon, Will C. Smith, recently of Louisville, Ky., and Robert E. Smith, of Ellijay, Ga.; and three daughters, Mrs. J. A. Ballew, Pell City, Ala.; Mrs. S. G. Clayton, Roy, Ga., and Miss Nettie Smith, Roy, Ga.
