(off the coast of Georgia). Butler's Island or Hampton Point Plantation (both belonged to Major Pierce Butler and Pierce Mease Butler) Hampton Point Plantation on St. Simon's Island and Butler's Island (about 1 mile south of Darien), both off the coast of Georgia. Pierce Butler inherited his property from his grandfather, Major Pierce Butler. Major Pierce Butler inherited most of his slaves from his wife, Mary "Polly" Middleton (of the South Carolina Middleton family), who inherited them from her grandmother, Mary Bull (the Bull family of South Carolina, another prominent family).
