Georgia Gazette  May 6, 1790
"Died in Savannah on the fourth instant John
Burnett, Sr. of Glynn Co., Georgia, after nine
months illness, about six of which he was confined
to bed,  due to an old wound breaking out which he
received in April 1788 when he with one of his sons
bravely fought and defeated a party of nine or ten
Indians recovering his cattle the savages were
carrying off."
