John Campbell, a deaf and dumb negro, employed by the Hilton & Dodge Lumber Company, at the Cypress Mills in this city, was run over and killed by a Southern Railway train last night. Campbell, it seems, was drunk, and tried to crawl under the cars just in front of Marks’ store on Bay street. The cars were moving and caught him, dragging him several hundred feet. His cries attracted attention and finally the train stopped and the man was carried to his home on south Albany street where he died in a few minutes.
