No memorial service will be held. Surviving are a daughter, Jo Ann Brown of Brunswick; three sons, George Allan Powell of Brunswick, Darvin V. Powell of Tallahassee, Fla., and Larry N. Croft of St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters, Jeffie Smith and Margie Darley, both of Macon; one brother, William D. Tyson of Greenville, NC; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The Johnson County native had been a resident of Brunswick since 1941. A welder at the shipyard, she worked at several shrimp and crab companies. She was a Baptist and a sitter for the homebound.
