DISTRESSING OCCURRENCE-- We are truly sorry to learn, that on Monday the 7th 
inst. while Mr. S.L. Myers, of Satilla, in this county, was engaged in falling 
trees for the purpose of repairing his fence, which had been mostly blown down 
by the storm, the day previous, he unfortunately felled a tree on his little 
son, about three years of age, which crushed him to death in an instant.  Mrs. 
Myers, the mother of the unfortunate little sufferer, was at the time seated 
on a log, but a few feet from the deceased, with her little infant at the 
breast.  How truly may it be said, "that in the midst of life we are in 
death."                A.
