OPDENBROUW PASSES AWAY AT LOCAL HOSPITAL Leroy D. Opdenbrouw, 52, passed away at the City Hospital this morning following an illness of three weeks. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., August 16, 1892, Mr. Opdenbrouw came to Brunswick from Valdosta 12 years ago and had since resided here. He had served on the advisory board of the Glynn County Selective Service Board and had been highly complimented for his efficient work. He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Bridgeport, and a member of the local chapter of the Eastern Star, and was to have been installed on January 11 as worthy patron, but was unable to do so because of his illness. He was also a member of St. Mark's Episcopal church. During his residence here Mr. Opdenbrouw made a large number of friends who will regret to learn of his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillie Schoeppel Opdenbrouw, one son, Bruce, of Bridgeport, a brother, Al V. Opdenbrouw, of Valdosta, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. mark's Episcopal church Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock conducted by the Rev. W. Northey Jones, and assisted by the Rev. John S. Sharp. Burial will be in Palmetto cemetery, with Masonic services at the grave. The following will serve as pall bearers: Active, J.H. Osborne, Richard Royal, Ernest Crandall, Mitchell Owens, Franklin Miller, Earl Grant; honorary, Alonzo Ballard, Oscar Hensell, Dr. S.P. McDaniels, R. Mitchell Brown, J. Alf Brown, Jeff D. Browne, Clarence Dubs, M.L. Brim, Mose Gordon, Dan Freno, D.C. Staley, Jerry Leonidas, Tommy Thomas, Reggie Sapp. Arrangements are in charge of Mortician Edo Miller.
