Burial will follow at Palmetto Cemetery. He died Tuesday at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Pallbearers will be a military escort. Honorary pallbearers will be American Legion Post 9, V.F.W., Post 2588, D.A.V Post 36 and co-workers from Brunswick Pulp and Paper. Surviving are his wife, Alice J. Smith of Brunswick; four step-sons, Roy E. Hoag and Jim Hoag, both of Topeka, Kan., Robert Hoag of Brunswick and Richard Hoag of Lake City, Fla., four daughters, Donna Smith of New Iberia, La., Delores Griffin of North Wilksboro, N.C., Dorothy Latham of Brunswick and Darlene Wolfe of Killeen, Texas; a sister, Mildred McKee of Savannah; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The Fernandina Beach, Fla. Native had been a resident of Glynn County since 1945. He was a member of Norwich Street Baptist Church, American Legion Post 9, V.F.W. Post 2588 and the D.A.V. Post 36. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired pipe fitter with Brunswick Pulp and Paper.
