It is our painful duty to chronicle three deaths in our city this week.

Second, Mrs. Whitfield, the mother of our townsman, Col. Bolling Whitfield in 
the 55th year of her age.  Although a comparative stranger in our midst, many 
sympathizing friends escorted her remains to the grave from the Baptist church 
of this city and lovingly laid her away to rest, till the grand trump shall 
sound to call her forth once more.
