In 1861 Thomas Henry King enlisted in the 50th Virginia Infantry, CSA. He was 
captured at the battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse, May 12,1864. Sent to Point 
Lookout, Md.,(prison for Confederates) then to Elmira, N. Y. After General Lee 
surerendered to Grant, April 9, 1865 Tom was paroled July 1865. He had to walk 
home 300 miles. He told his grandson, my dad, William P. King (1906-1995) that 
he couldn't tell where he was shooting as the powder was not smokeless and more.
