All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jennifer Dondero jpgenealogy@yahoo.com July 8, 2005, 3:16 pm Lot 75 District 14 Section 3 Written: October 9, 1850 Recorded: April 11, 1857 Michael Towland Deed to David Miller Lot No 75 in 14th 3rd Sect Georgia Monroe County Agreeable to an order from the court of ordinary obtained by Michael M Towland of Jasper County natural guardian of Iverson L Towland and also an order from the court of ordinary of Monroe County by Isaac Pitts of said county and natural Guardian of Jer[illegible] A Pitts to sell a certain tract of land lying and being in the county of Gordon Known by no 75 seventy five and fourteenth district third section drawn by Nancy Pitts Widow of Jones County at the giving in the drawn of said lottery In pursuance of said orders the land was legally advertised in a public newspaper in the Bee of Monroe County and sold at Cassville Cass county on the first Tuesday in April last and David Miller of Gordon County being the highest bidder or purchaser for one hundred dollars Now therefore this Indenture made this the ninth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty between Michael M Towland of Jasper County Guardian of Iverson L Towland Isaac Pitts of Monroe County Guardian of Jerome A Pitts of the one part and David Miller of Gordon County of the other part Witnesseth for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to them paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Michael M and Isaac Guardians as aforesaid then granted Bargained and by these presents do Bargain and sell unto the said David his heirs and Executors and Administrators all that tract of land as above described containing one hundred and sixty acres be the same more or less with all the rights and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the said tract of land unto him the said David Miller his heirs Executors or Administrators in fee simple In testimony whereof the said Michael M [illegible, possibly crossed out “Toland”] Isaac Guardians as aforesaid have hereunto set their hand and affixed their seals this the day and date above mentioned in presence of [illegible first name, Shurley?] S Maddox George W [illegible last name, Hurison?] J.P. M M Towland Gard [legal seal] Isaac Pitts [legal seal] Additional Comments: Found in Gordon County Deed Book A Page 95 Deed is only indexed under grantor name of Michael Towland On the same page following the deed is a release from the Monroe County Inferior Court allowing the land "belonging to said Minors" to be sold, listed as January Term 1850. Following that is acknowlegement "to be a true copy taken from the minutes of said Court this 11th day of October 1850."
