XXXIII - Page 2, Column 1 Stricken with Paralysis Calhoun, Ga., February 7. - (Special.) - Robert Prater, an old citizen of this county, was stricken with paralysis today at the home of his son-in-law, J. C. Smith, and is not expected to live. Additional Comments: Robert PRATER, born 1 March 1820, Pickens District, S.C., married (1st) 4 May 1837 in Hall county, Ann M. CAIN, born 1 June 1818 in Jackson county, daughter of Joseph and Sarah (WAITS) CAIN. Robert married (2nd) 9 January 1860 in Gordon county, Louise Catherine PEEPLES. Robert was a 1st Lieutenant in Company "A", 8th Regiment, Alabama Cavalry (Hatch's), C.S.A. during the Civil War. He was the father of 15 known children and both wives preceded him in death. Robert PRATER died 11 February 1901 and is buried, along with his second wife, in Chandler cemetery in Calhoun, Gordon county, Georgia.
