A reunion was held Sunday, August 10, at Pleasant Grove Church, Rio, in honor of Hurley Cochran, of Modesto, Calif. A bountiful lunch was spread at noon and many relatives and friends enjoyed the day together. Among those present were Hurley Cochran, of Modesto, Calif; Miss Eva Cochran, Everett Cochran, Mrs. A. D. Cochran,John, Byron and Kerry Cochran, of Ranger; Mrs. Oscar Cochran, Ovalee and J. D. Cochran of Fairmount; Mrs. Walter Cochran and Bobby Jo Cochran of Jasper; Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Ballew and sons of Marietta; Mrs. A. L. Chitwood and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. West of Calhoun; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cochran and Jimmy, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cochran and Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Mal Cochran, of Ranger; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tippens, of Atlanta; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Clark, Roy, Peggy and Nancy Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Cochran and T. A. Chastain, of Talking Rock; Juanita Philyaw of Tate, Mr.and Mrs Autrel McCleod and Barbara, of Rome. Mrs. Estelle Shellhorse Cleghorn, Danny, Jack and Joan Cleghorn, of Colorado Springs, Colo; J. R. Shellhorse, Jr. Andy and Michael Shellhorse, of Cartersville; Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Dodson, J. W. Sewell, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Craig and children, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cochran, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Clark, Mrs. Joe Wood and Frank, Mrs. G. T. Banks and Mrs. J. H. Shellhorse, of Fairmount; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Scoggins and children of Rydal; Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Cochran, Herman and H. J. Cochran, Mrs. J. H. Bagwell, Mrs. Ray Roland, Mrs. Alfred Hightower, Mrs. Minnie Shirley, Mrs. Mary Bunch, Mrs. Agnes Roland and Mrs. Willard Hightower of Fairmount; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Travillion of Dalton; Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Shellhorse, Sr. of Clarksdale; Clyde Davidson, Mrs. Mary Shellhorse Davidson and Mrs. Susie Shellhorse Thomas of Cartersville; and Grady Kelley, of Fairmount. Additional Comments: Hurley Cochran, Miss Eva Cochran, and Everett Cochran were children of William Cochran and Lucinda Shelhorse of Gordon Co., grandchildren of Myers Cochran/Phoebe Dickey and grandchildren of Henry Fleming Shelhorse, Sr./Elizabeth Bates all who lived in Gordon Co., Georgia. Mrs. A. D. Cochran was the wife of Azariah Cochran, also a son of William Cochran and Lucinda Shelhorse. John and Byron were Azariah's sons and Kerry was Azariah's grandson. Azariah was still living but did not attend the reunion. Mrs. Oscar Cochran was the widow of Oscar E. Cochran, also a son of William Cochran and Lucinda Shelhorse. Ovalee was Oscar's daughter and J. D. was his son. Oscar had died in August 1951. Mrs. Walter Cochran was the widow of Walter Cochran also a son of William Cochran and Lucinda Shelhorse. Walter had died September 1945. Hurley Cochran's sister Elizabeth Cochran McLeod of Summerville Georgia and brother James Monroe Cochran of Oklahoma did not attend the reunion. Another brother George Lester Cochran had died in Oklahoma in 1924. These were also children of William Cochran and Lucinda Shelhorse of Gordon Co., Georgia.
