Dr. Acree was born at Hill City and attended schools in Gordon County. He was graduated from the University of Georgia Medical School in the class of 1912. He retired from active practice two years ago. Active in the Sonoraville Baptist Church, Dr. Acree was ordained as a deacon in 1913 and as a minister in 1939. A member of Sonora Lodge and Royal Arch, he was a Mason for 51 years. He was a life member of the American Medical Society, a member of Gordon County Medical Society and the Georgia Medical Society. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Webbie Penelope Hudgins of Gordon County to whom he was married in 1912; one daughter, Mrs. H.W. Weaver of Atlanta; nine sons, E.H., T.H., F.R., and S. K. Acree, all of Atlanta; J.T., R.H., and M.A. Acree, all of Calhoun; Dr. John W. Acree of Hiawassee; and the Rev. Allen T. Acree of Harwell; three sisters, Mrs. U.P. Everett of Kensington, Mrs. V. B. Jones of Calhoun, and Mrs. M.D. Jones of Atlanta; and 28 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at Sonoraville Baptist Church with the Rev. H.A. Daniel, the Rev. Henry Holland, and the Rev. Doyle Middlebrooks of Austell officiating. Burial was in Blackwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews of Dr. Acree.
