He was born and reared in Gordon County, son of the late Moses Black and Carolyn McJimspey Black. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtie Scott Black of Carters, two sons, Otto Black of Calhoun, Dewey Black of Carters; three daughters, Mrs. Zeb Thompson of Calhoun, Mrs. Jewel Corvl of New Orleans, La., and Mrs. Charles Correll of Ringgold; 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Colquitt Black of Ranger and Paul B. Black of Oakman, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Black were conducted Friday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. from White Graves Baptist Church with the Rev. Harvey Silvers and the Rev,. John Bledsoe officiating. Mrs. George Hayes and Charles T. Owens had charge of the music. Pallbearers serving were Ernest, Carl, Conway, Haywood, Terry and George Black. Honorary pallbearers serving were Boston Greeson, Olen McAfee, Johnny Waters, Andrew Wilson, Leonard Wilson, Howard Correll, Arnold Correll, John Neal Poarch, Johnny Padgett, Ralph Tatum, Vester Reece and Jordan Tatum.
