She was born in Sugar Valley on Dec. 31, 1921, a daughter of the late Fate Walraven ad Ludie Watkins Walraven. She was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and was a member of Sugar Valley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam B lack, on Oct. 25, 1983. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Sammy and Patricia Black of Calhoun and Tony and Sherri Black of Santa Barbara, Calif.; sisters, Mary Frances Joseph of Brunswick and Ludie Faye Floyd of Sugar Valley; brothers, Jim and Frank Walraven, both of Sugar Valley; a granddaughter and her husband, Kim and Rick Foster of Calhoun, and a granddaughter, Sydney Clare Black of Santa Barbara. Funeral was Monday, April 8, at 3 p.m. at Sugar Valley Baptist Church, with the Revs. Howard Duvall and Mitch Phillips officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Bruce Walraven Jeff Walraven, Mike Walraven, Gary Walraven, Larry Walraven, Bobby Walraven, Ronnie Walraven, Wade Floyd, and Marshall Floyd. Thomas Funeral Home of Calhoun was in charge of arrangements.
