VERA DURHAM BLACK Mrs. Vera Durham Black, 98, of 1594 Taylortown Road, Ranger died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, following several months of illness. She was born on Feb. 25, 1901 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Jeff and Mourisior Rogers Durham. She had lived her lifetime in Gordon County and was a member of Pleasant Hill /Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Colquitt Black, 23 years ago. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gladys and John Foster of Calhoun; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ray and Annie Ruth Black of Calhoun and Asa Black of Ranger; four grandchildren, Randy Foster, James Black, and Charles Black, all of Calhoun, and Diane Dillard of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a great-grandchild, Zach Foster of Adairsville; and nieces and nephews. Funeral was Monday, Dec. 27, at 2 p.m. from the Bradley Anderson Memorial Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. J. E. Glass officiating. Music was arranged by the Rev. Michael Hunt. Interment was in Campbell Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael Hunt in charge of the graveside rites. Pallbearers were Leonard Reece, Maxwell Reece, Bob Angland, Kenneth Angland, Dale Angland, and Wayne Howell. Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun was in charge of arrangements.
