Sept 20, 1900 It is with a sad heart that we are called upon to announce the death of Mrs. Walraven, wife of John M. Walraven. Mrs. Walraven had been sick for several months but bore her suffering with Christian fortitude throughout her long illness, and when the end came on Monday the 10th inst. at 1 o'clock p.m. she passed away as peaceful as an infant falls asleep. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a kind friend, and was well liked by all. She leaves a husband and several children, one brother and one sister and a host of friends to mourn her loss. The burial took place at the Robertson cemetery on Tuesday at 3 o'clock. Services conducted by Rev. James Pendley. Calhoun Times Gordon Co. Ga. Dec 2, 1992 Mr. John Henry Walraven, 80, of Pine Ridge Apartments, Calhoun, died Sunday morning, Nov. 29, 1992, at 8 a.m. at his residence. He was born Sept 9, 1912 in Gordon County, son of the late Coot and Katie Goble Walraven. He was a farmer and dairyman and had been associated with Venture Carpets. He was a member of the Holiness Church of Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mac Walraven. Survivors include his wife, Buna Slvers Walraven of Calhoun; two sons, Charles Walraven and Jery Walraven, both of Calhoun; a daughter, Nancy Templin of Calhoun; a brother Howard Walraven: three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral was Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home, with the Revs. Joe Fountain and Jasper Fain officiating. Interment was in the Haven of Rest Cemetery. Music was arranged by Betty Pack, Ora Mae Fain, and Betty Fain. County News, Gordon Co., GA. Dec 27, 1960 Funeral services for Joe E. Walraven, 74, were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church with the Rev. Luther Porter, the Rev. Homer Davis and the Rev. Bryant Leveritt officiating. Music was in charge of Charles T. Owens. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Mr. Walraven died suddenly Thursday afternoon Dec. 22 of a heart attack. He was born and reared in Gordon County and spent his entire life here. A respected citizen of the community, he was a retired farmer and was married to the former Miss Mary S. Griffin of Gordon County. Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Faith, Mrs. Edd Plott and Mrs. Junior Holcomb, all of Calhoun, and Mrs Raymond Evans of Cartersville; seven sons, Frank, Claude, Roy, Carlton, Otto and Fred, all of Calhoun, and Billy Walraven of Oklahoma City, Okla; 27 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers serving were Mack Howard, Tom and Clyde Walraven, Murphus Tacker and Ed Wyatt. Calhoun Times Aug 20, 1978 Gordon Co., GA. Mrs Katie C. Walraven 86, of Rte 2, Adairsvile, died Wednesday afternoon in an out of town hospital. Mrs Walraven was born in Gordon County, Sept 17, 1891 a daughter of the late John Henry and Nancy Baxter Goble. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church at Red Bud, and was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. (Coot) Walraven, 18 years ago. Mrs Walraven is survived by three sons, James (Mack) Walraven of Adairsvile, and John and Howard Walraven both of Calhoun; a brother Joe Goble of Calhoun; nine grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Friday at 2 p.m. from the Bradley Anderson Memorial Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. John Allen officiating. Pallbearers were Grady Goble, Taylor Goble, Charlie Goble, Gordon Lee Goble, Maurice Goble and Jack Goble. Interment was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Red Bud. (Buck) Walraven of Route 1, Ranger, died Tuesday, Dec 21, at Gordon Hospital Mr. Walraven is survived by one son, Ken Walraven, Route 1, Ranger; three sisters Pauline Davis and Lois Walraven of Calhoun and Becky Baxter of Nicholsville; one brother, Claude Walraven of Calhoun; three grandchildren, Johnny, Kenny and Joey Walraven and several nieces and nephews. Mr. John Walraven, formerly of this county, but for the last year Cleburne Tex., died at his home there on Jan. 2 of pneumonia County News Feb 26, 1952 Gordon Co., GA. John Terrell Walraven, two and one half months, died at his home in Atlanta, Monday February 18. He is survieved by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Walraven of Atlanta; three brothers, James, Jackie, and Joey Walraven, of Atlanta; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Walraven dies Friday Funeral services for Ed Walraven, 77, were held Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Crane Eater Church of God with the Rev. G.W. Mize and the Rev. Graden Strickland officiating. Music was in charge of the Lee Hunt Quartet. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Mr. Walraven died at his home on Friday morning, June 3 at 6 o'clock. Surviving are five daughters, Miss Nellie Mae Walraven, Mrs. Fannie Greeson, Mrs. Bulah Dixon, Mrs. Lucille Clark all of Calhoun, Mrs. Estelle Moore of Dalton; six sons, Tom, Grady, Clyde, Lewis and Glenn, all of Calhoun and Ralph of Chatsworth; 20 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two brothers, Joe and C.W. Walraven of Calhoun; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers serving were grandsons. Calhoun Times, Gordon Co., Ga. Mar 16, 1961 Mr. Emmett F. Walraven, age 59, passed away at the residence on Gordon Street, Tuesday morning, March 14, at 3 a.m. following four months illness. He was a native of Gordon County and spent most of his life here. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs W.S. Walraven, pioneer citizens of Curryville community. He was a member of First Baptist Church, was the manager of Western Auto Store for the past 18 years, had been very active in civic clubs, and worked for the betterment of the town. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Ida Brown of Warren, N.C.; one daughter, Kathryn Walraven of Atlanta; two sons, Charles W. of Atlanta and E.F. Walraven, Jr., of Calhoun; two grandchildren; three sisters Mrs. R.O. Foard of Atlanta, Mrs. S.S. Everett of Calhoun and Mrs. A.R. Benson of College Park; three brothers, Doyle E. of Atlanta, Howard of Charlotte, N.C. and Alto of Montgomery, Ala. The funeral services, were conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from the First Baptist Church with Rev. Solon C. Couch officiating. Pallbearers serving were G.B. Whitfield, Maurice Gravitt, James Smith, Elbert Jackson, Clarence Gallman and M.F. Fuller. Honorary pallbearers were members of Lions Club. Interment in Fain Cemetery. Walraven, 77, died a local hospital Friday, September 16, at 9:30 p.m. She was resident of the Curryville community. Mrs. Walraven is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J. H. Stroud, of Curryville; two sons, T. P. Walraven of Cornwall, N.Y. and Dennis Walraven, of Curryville; two step- daughters, Mrs. M.R. Fuller, of Greenville, SC; Mrs. Willie Lynch, of Everette Springs; one step-son C.R. Walraven of Armuchee; three sisters, Miss Betty Gaston, of Curryville; Mrs. W. H. Treadway, of Lindale, Mrs. Bob Keys, of Gadsden, Ala; one brother, Whitfield Gaston, of Rome; six grandchildren also survive. Music was furnished by J. She was born in Murray County, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Walraven of Sugar Valley. She was a member of the Sugar Valley Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother, Morris Walraven of Sugar Valley; a sister, Mrs. Nell McClain of Sugar Valley; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ludie Walraven of Sugar Valley, several nieces and nephews. Nephews served as pallbears. Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Oostanaola Baptist Church, with Rev. Holmer Davis officiating. Walraven, Jr., of Oostanaula; two grandchildren, Ronald and Charles Walraven and two half sisters, Mrs. J. R. Nelson, of Sugar Valley, and Mrs. Woodrow Johnston, of Oakman. Funeral services were held from the Oostanaula Baptist Church on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the Rev. E. F. Cobb, the Rev. Lawrence Stone, the Rev. H. J. Bridges and the Rev. Z.T. Carr. Music was arranged by the White Quartet. Pallbearers were J. J. Fortner, H.M. White and J.W. Miller, Members of the American Legion served as honorary pallbearers. April 14, 1976 Fain Borders Walraven Jr., age 48, of Rte. 4, Calhoun, Oostanaula Community, died Wednesday April 7, at 10 a.m. at his residence following a sudden attack. Mr. Walraven as born in Gordon County April 2, 1928, son of Cible Barrett Walraven and the late Fain Borders Walraven, and had spent his entire live in Calhoun and Gordon County. Mr. Walraven for several years had been associated with Glasrock Products Co., but prior to ill health was associated with the Crown Craft Company. He was a member of the Oostanaula Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, William Fain Walraven of Rte. 4, Calhoun; mother, Mrs. Cible Walraven; one brother Roy Walraven, all of Rte. 4, Calhoun; three nieces and three nephews also survive. Funeral services were held Friday, April 9, at 2 p.m. from Costanaula Baptist Church with the Rev. Lawrence Stone and the Rev. Larry Hogan officiating. Interment was in Fain Cemetery. Music was arranged by Herman White. Pallbearers included John Johnston, Robert and C. F.
