Roy Rent, a young white man, who formerly resided near Reno, was placed in jail charged with being a deserter from the Army. Rent, alias Sumpter Cloud, enlised in the 106th Engineer corps. in May, 1917 and escaped four months later. He was located at Moultrie and was arrested by Chief of Police of Moultrie. Sheriff Perkins went over and brought him back Wednesday and put him in the Grady County jail. He will be carried to Camp Wheeler today, where he will be tried for desertion. Wednesday, Richard Goff, colored, who lives about three miles from town was arrested by Sheriff Perkins and Deputy Farnell on the charge of operating a moonshine still. He had in his possession a jug of wine, a barrel of "buck", besides the still. Goff gave a hundred dollar bond to the City Court.
