The Board, which is composed of D. P. Ward, J. S. Weathers and Dr. J. B. Warnell, met last Friday and issued instructions closing up all schools, churches, lodges, and other public places. All these places are to remain closed until January 1st, or the first Monday in January next. The notice as given out by the Board is as follows: Cairo, Ga., Nov. 22 To the Citizens of Grady County: At a meeting of the County Board of Health for Grady County, held today, it was decided to close all schools, churches, Sunday Schools, lodges and all indoor assemblies of all kinds and to prevent all shows, moving picture shows, and other entertainments of like kind in Grady county from this date until Jan. 1st, 1919, unless otherwise ordered by the Board. This action was taken in view of preventing as far as possible the spread of the Influenza epidemic now in our midst, as in accordance with the power vested in the County Board of Health of this State under the law known as the Ellis law, passed several years ago. The Board of Health urges the people of Grady county to refrain as much as possible from visiting other counties and sections and especially refrain from visiting county fairs and other places of like nature where the influenza epidemic is already prevalent. It is not intended to prevent public assemblies that may be held in the open or out of doors. The merchants of our county are urged to discourage people from congregating in stores, depots and other places after they have finished the transaction of their business at such places. The County Board of Health in passing this resolution or order, does not leave it optional to obey or disobey the instructions herewith, but will undertake to punish by law any violation of same. All those who have the welfare of our people at heart are urged to report any violators of this order to J. S. Weathers, Cairo, Ga., Secretary of the Board of Health for Grady County. D. P.
