The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for FREE access. ************************************************************************************************************** The Cairo Messenger, December, 1955: Mrs. Emma Boutwell Pyles, 79 Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Boutwell Pyles, 79, were held at the Freewill Baptist Church Christmas afternoon at 3:30 with the Rev. Willie G. Turner officiating. Robert Hudson, Howard Mobley, Rayford Pyles, Junior Rich, Henry McGuire, and Bennie Watson were active pallbearers. Glenn Western, John Richard, J. A. Manning, Ruben Ruff, Carson Rogers, and Don Harrell were honorary pallbearers. She died Dec. 23 at her residence following a three-week illness. She was born July 31, 1876 in that part of Thomas County which is now Grady - the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Boutwell. She was a lifetime resident of this county and was a member of New Home Church. Surviving are three sons, Earl and Roy Pyles, and Robert Hancock; two daughters, Mrs. Nonnie Hudson and Miss Lottie Pyles; two brothers, Berry Boutwell of Pavo and Charlie Boutwell of Grady County; two sisters, Mrs. Elnora Harris of Thomasville and Mrs. Lessie Mathis of Cairo; also 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery with Clark Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
