Gainous, 63, died at the Grady General Hospital at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday following a heart attack. Mrs. Gainous had been in poor health for several months, but her death came suddenly. Funeral services were held at the Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. W. E. Pledger and Rev. Sidney J. Wheeler in charge of the services. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers were James Wimberly, J. D. Wimberly, Floyd Wilson, Ira Lee Hopkins, Ford Wimberly and Luther Hardwick. Honorary pallbearers were Warren Turner, C. J. Cofer, Howard Waters, J. B. Davis, R. O. Corbitt, D. D. Fallin, Rev. George Thomas, Bill Majors, Ed Roladn, Bobby Palmer, Rev. Monroe Dyches, Red Batchler, and Luther Strickland. Mrs. Gainous was born in this county on October 27, 1898 the daughter of the late John and Sadie Wimberly. She had lived in Cairo all her life with the exception of one year which she spent in Bainbridge. She was married to the late J. Oscar Gainous. He died in 1953. Mrs. Gainous was a member of the Pine Level Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons, Perry Lee Gainous, Warner Robins; Louie C. Gainous, Bainbridge; John Oscar Gainous, Cairo; Lynwood Gainous, Warner Robins; three daughters, Mrs. Faye Hardwick, Cairo; Mrs. Irma Jean Hopkins, Pelham; Mrs. Martha Nell Huey, Cairo; one step-daughter, Mrs. Floyd Wilson; two brothers, Wiley Wimberly and I. B. Wimberly, both of Brooksville and twenty three grandchildren. Clark Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
