Maxwell, 71, who died yesterday at his residence in Whigham following an extended illness, were held today at 3:30 p.m. at the Trinity Primitive Baptist Church with the Elders C. W. Todd and Earl Childs officiating. Burial was in Trinity cemetery with Coy Gainous, Wesley Collins, Bill Gainous, Graham Mobley, Judson Ponder and Dr. James L. Martin, as active pallbearers. Mr. Maxwell was born on June 23, 1893 in Grady County, son of the late Jason D. and Nancy Rackley Maxwell. He was married to Elizabeth M. Coker on July 4, 1917. He was a lifetime resident of this county and was a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Leo Hester, of Cairo; one son, Gwinette Maxwell of Cairo; two brothers, R. H. and C. L. Maxwell both of Whigham; three sisters, Miss Addie Maxwell, Miss Crummie Maxwell and Mrs. Roy Thomas all of Whigham; three granddaughters and three grandsons. Clark Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
